Casa Claudia

 

This is a wonderful tuscan hilltown farm dating back to 1641. Nestling in an olive grove in the foothills of the Apennines, with spectacular views of chestnut forests and neighbouring hilltop villages. Its tranquility is broken by birdsong and the sound of a distant stream, yet the Treasures of Florence are less than an hour away. 

Casa Claudia has recently been restored into two self contained apartments, with all the modern luxuries but retaining original chestnut beames ceiling and terracotta floors. The apartments are half of the main farmhouse and the other half is occupied by the owners. 

There is a wonderful swimming pool for exclusive use of the guests, set into the hillsides with stunning view all around. 

Appartamento Grande (sleeps 6/7)

This is the larger apartment of Casa Claudia and occupies the 2 top floors and perfect for a family holiday. On the first floor there is a large kitchen / dining room with open fire, the kitchen is very well equipped with fridge / freezer, gas oven and hob, dishwasher, double sink and microwave. This leads onto the lovely sitting room / study that contains comfortable sofas, a desk and hifi. 

On the first floor there is also one light and spacious double bedroom.

On the top floor there is a large master bedroom, with stunning 4 poster double bed, with ensuite bathroom with WC, basin and shower.  There is a lovely twin room and a second bathroom with WC, basin, bath and shower over.

There is a wonderful outdoor dining area, to enjoy evening meals in this stunning tuscan retreat. 

Appartamento Studio (sleeps 2)

This is a lovely apartment perfect for a couple enjoying a romantic holiday. 

The apartment comprises a kitchen / dining / living room, with a divan, log burning stove and hifi. French doors open onto its own private patio, with table and chairs and a grasssed area for sun-lounging.

Double doors from the main living room lead to a dressing room with wardrobe hanging space and plenty of room for storage. The dressing room opens into the bathroom containing WC, basin and shower.

Stairs, which are quite steep, lead from the dressing room to the double bed above. 

Facilities

Bed linen and towels are provided weekly. A cot and high chair are available. Beach towels are also available. Every room is centrally heated.

 

There is a private outdoor recreation area under a vine-covered pergola next to an ornamental pool. A barn on the ground floor has been converted into a laundry with washing machine, iron and ironing board, storage for deck chairs, hammocks and a portable barbecue, which - together with the large parking area under walnut and cherry trees is shared by both apartments. Own transport is essential.

Seaside one hour away, 18 hole golf course at Montecatini (14km), Abetone ski resort (60km), plus, nearer home, tennis/squash courts, pony trekking, mountain walks, several swimming pools, numerous historic villas and gardens (Pescia is home to the second largest flower market in Europe), colourful street markets .. and many excellent and inexpensive restaurants.

 

Distances:

3.5km (includes 1.7km well maintained private road) to nearest village, Pietrabuona, with post office, petrol station, butcher, general store, bar and restaurant. 10 mins to nearest market town, Pescia, with railway and bus stations,hospital, banks, supermarkets,public swimming pool etc. 40 mins to Lucca - a walled medieval gem. One hour by car to Pisa International airport. One hour and a quarter to Viareggio seaside resort; one and a half hours to marble/sculpture centre of Carrara/Pietrasanta; two hours to Siena, San Gimignano and Bologna International airport; 3 hours to Rome, 3.5 hours to Milan and 4 hours to Venice airports.
